A continuous conversation examining and advocating for policies that protect the African American/Black and Native American communities as this country, The United States of America, changes demographically, economically, socially, politically, and culturally.
Each week, I sit down with a different guest to explore the fate of our communities in their given industries.
For as long as I can remember, I was quietly researching, writing and talking about issues impacting the Black/African American and Native American communities.
From my very first undergraduate courses at The University of South Carolina, I tried to break out of the quietness by doing school projects that I thought would fulfill my passion to talk more openly about issues of my community and the state of the United States of America.
It was hard to break that quietness while I worked in corporate America, at a non-profit, as a journalist, as a manager, and as an individual in circles of white friends. Even in graduate school at The Catholic University of America, I did not quite reach the level of vocalness I had hoped.
My years of experience as a journalist, as a manager, as a leader, a volunteer, and a novice of history, has led to The Offshoot, where I, as the host, can openly discuss pertinent topics impacting the Black/African American and Native American communities. I love talking to knowledgeable people. I love learning from smart people. I love to share what I gain from other people.
